Archiving History

The Hamburg Bureau Johannes Erler, together with Jamal Buscher, carefully redesigned the State Archives of Baden-Württemberg, paying close attention to detail.

The State Archives of Baden-Württemberg, comprising all eight regional archives, have safeguarded the region’s historical records since 1952. This includes documents from predecessor territories dating back to the Middle Ages. Actively enhancing cultural and socio-political education, the Archives provide accessible resources both in-person and online. Positioned as a dynamic cultural hub, it leads research in archival and information sciences while serving the public with a range of analog and digital services.

The visual identity laid the foundation for enhancing the public perception of the State Archives. Applying beautifully our typeface Buenos Aires enhances the visual identity with a clear and friendly expression. The asterisk, now a prominent icon of the State Archives, symbolises reliability and transparency. This ensures that present and future generations can trace the past based on original historical documents.
